A Summer Day in the Garden

Bougainvillea Hedge
Summer days means al fresco living at Towerwater.  The garden becomes a refuge with the shade of the oak trees offering safe havens from the heat. Sunshine is the magic ingredient of the garden that makes seeds sprout overnight and fruit and vegetables to ripen.

Al fresco supper
Picking fruit, vegetables and herbs for the daily meals needs to happen in the cool of the morning. Lunches prepared in the cool kitchen are served on the lawn and who could ask for a better setting. Just by moving the garden table a few meters, one changes the complete atmosphere of the lunch venue.

Pears
Tomatoes
It’s a life of harmony when the garden produces the food that gets prepared in the kitchen that then is served in the garden again.

Vegetable Garden
Artistic Gem Squash
The garden has a life of its own and one can just sit back in a deckchair and watch it unfold. With mid-air fights between the fiscal shrike and the bulbul there is no lack of drama of some kind in the garden.

A whole world exists in our garden and we are only visitors watching life unfold not interfering with the lifecycle of our garden unless we can contribute positively.

What will a Cape country garden be without hydrangeas

  1. Enjoying the beauty of Hydrangeas or Christmas roses as they are also known is my one weakness! They lend old world charm to any garden. Nice post thanks.
